ABOUT ME

Born and raised in the windy city of Chicago, Tya Winn has been a designer at heart from the early days of crayons on construction paper, wooden blocks, and finger paints.  After solidifying her career path in a high school drafting and architecture class, she went on to formally study architecture at Syracuse University.  Tya received her BARCH in 2009 in the height of the financial crisis.  Determined not to get off track, she spent the next year working towards her Masters of Architecture with a Certificate of Urban Design at the University of Pennsylvania.

While Tya really enjoys drawing buildings, she quickly learned her passion was in community redevelopment and design.  Coupled with her design background and new found Urban Design skills she currently works for a non profit community development firm.  Complementing her jack of all trades mode of working, Tya now wears many hats, working as a grant writer, fundraiser, community planner, organizer, designer, charette hostess, and general office phenom.  Formally she is a real estate development coordinator.  Fret now, Tya still stays current with all things architecture, runs a design blog, is active in professional organizations, and volunteers!
